ABOUT THE HOST SCHOOL

Hidden Valley Elementary School is located in east Charlotte’s Hidden Valley neighborhood, between North Tryon Street and I-85, several minutes northeast of the Center City. Serving more than 750 students (approximately 95% of whom qualify for free or reduced-price lunches), Principal Tisha Greene and her staff focus on student achievement by using the student-intervention process to provide early academic and behavioral support for struggling or at-risk students. The school is also building partnerships with businesses, organizations, faith partners and the community to increase the resources available to HVES students and their families.

ABOUT THE PLAYGROUND BUILD

There’s nothing like watching children’s faces as they see their dream literally rise up from the ground before their eyes. When you and your co-workers volunteer to construct a playground in just eight hours, you’ll find yourselves inspired and fulfilled by the immediate results of your efforts. Plus you’ll discover it’s the perfect way to build teamwork and a creative sense of play within your company!

Since 2003, The Playground Build has been sponsored by the Business Volunteer Council. Those who’ve taken part in our projects have greatly enriched the lives of young children who otherwise might never have the chance to play to their heart’s content within a safe environment.

So join in this year’s Playground Build on April 17th, 2013 at Hidden Valley Elementary. And help make The Playground Build possible with a corporate donation. In return, we promise you’ll bring out the kid in our kids – and in you!
